PLANET CONDOR
Winner of Erdel Family Memorial Award, 1st Place Arkansas Writers' Conference |
My childhood was a roller coaster – highs accompanied by a queasiness that anticipated the coming low, where I anxiously waited for a new high.
In the summer of 1972, we stood in our driveway, anticipating Dad’s arrival. He’d called to say he was on his way with our new motor home—a 1971 Ford Condor. We were thrilled when he rounded the corner in the variegated white box on wheels. Rushing inside to stake our claims to seats and beds, we “oohed” and “ahhed” at the sight of olive green plaid upholstery contrasted against dark wood-paneled interior – the unmistakable look of the 1970’s.
