On Saturday, May 19, we departed Nanny Cay Marina on the island of Tortola, aboard the catamaran, Aristocat II, with owner and skipper Mike Kneafsey, his wife Jennifer, and 2-year old daughter, Lilly. Our fellow guests were Tara and Jeff. All aboard excitedly anticipated the week ahead.
Monkey Point, Anegada, Dump-Your-Wife Bay, Great Harbor, Soper's Hole, Money Point, Marina Cay...these were but a few of the stops we made. We snorkeled, ate, drank, slept, ate, slept, snorkeled, searched for seashells, shopped, ate, slept, took pictures, learned to sail, drank, slept, fished and slept again. Sound relaxing?
These are but a sampling of the photos, but hopefully they will give you an idea of the beauty of the area. Can you smell the salt water? Hear the waves? Feel the breeze? See the colors?
The week passed too quickly, and on Saturday, May 26, it was time to leave the boat. We spent a final night at Beef Island Guest Resort, a quaint and lovely little guest house, where the sea breezes and box fans cooled us at night. We were, however, thankful to reach San Juan, where we could once again be spoiled by air conditioners!
